理學院學系的近期口徑變化： 「統計與數據科學系」前身是1982 年創立的統計學系※（首任系主任為統計學家湯家豪 Howell Tong，首屆只招 17 名學生），2025 年正式更名為現名，以納入數據科學方向；「生命科學學院」是理學院唯一保留「School」建制的系級單位，由多個生物相關學系整合而來。本篇表格反映的是現時建制，學系名稱與合併關係每隔數年即隨學科演進調整，查閲時宜以官方學院頁最新版本為準。

治理與政策科學學院是表中最年輕的單位：其前身是有 54 年曆史的政治與行政學系※（Department of Government and Public Administration，1970 年創系），2024 年 2 月獲校董會批准重組方案、同年 8 月正式併入新成立的治理與政策科學學院※。重組後，學院除原有的「政治與行政學」本科課程外，新增「環球研究」（Global Studies）與「數據科學與政策研究」（Data Science and Policy Studies）兩個方向，反映社科教育向跨學科、政策分析方向的擴容。新聞與傳播學院則是學院內歷史最長的教學單位之一：據學院官網，其前身是1965 年創立的新聞學系，為全港歷史最悠久的新聞傳播教研機構※；1970 年代，學系由時任講座教授兼系主任邀得傳播學奠基人施藍姆(Wilbur Schramm)來港，協助開辦傳播學哲學碩士課程；1999 年由「學系」更名為「學院(School)」※、同時開辦首個修課式研究生課程（新聞學文學碩士）。學院官網稱其校友羣體已逾 9,000 人※。

八、法律學院 Faculty of Law（單一學院建制）
法律學院以學院整體運作，不分系，設研究生部及各課程主任（法律學院官網）※;LLB、JD、LLM、PCLL 等課程的課程主任與研究中心見 programs.md。法律學院是八院中最年輕的一所——2004 年 5 月才獲批立項，是繼港大、城大之後香港第三所法學院，用一年時間在中環工地旁建成學部，2006 年開班、2008 年 8 月升格為學院並首辦 PCLL，創院始末見 faculty-of-law-2004-founding.md。
九、統計口徑説明
- 中大官方「約 61 個學系」的計法，以學系(Department)與系級學院(School)為基本單位，不含純教學單位（如 ELTU）、中心(Centre)與研究所(Institute)。
- 部分單位雖名為「學院(School)」，但屬系級建制（如醫學院轄下的生物醫學學院、護理學院，理學院轄下的生命科學學院），並非與八大學院並列的「學院(Faculty)」。
- 跨學院/跨學科單位（如志賢跨學科數學科學學院、各研究中心）另計，不計入學系總數。

十、近三年建制變動一覽（2023–2025）
中大的學系建制並非一成不變——本篇上文各院表格裏已標註的四宗變動，放在一起看構成了近三年一條清晰的重組脈絡：老學系瘦身合併、新興學科獨立建院。

其中最受矚目的兩宗，是社科院與理學院分別在 2024、2025 年完成的重組：
治理與政策科學學院（2024）： 有 54 年曆史的政治與行政學系，2024 年 2 月獲校董會批准重組方案，同年 8 月正式併入新成立的治理與政策科學學院※（School of Governance and Policy Science）。重組後課程從單一的「政治與行政學」擴展為「政治與行政學」「環球研究」「數據科學與政策研究」三個方向（HKFP 報道）※。
志賢跨學科數學科學學院（2025）： 由數學家丘成桐教授倡議創辦，2025 年 2 月宣佈成立，同年 9 月 1 日舉行揭幕典禮並迎來首屆學生（中大傳訊處）※。學院開辦八年制本博貫通課程，與清華大學求真書院、復旦大學等機構合作培養數學科學領軍人才，首屆招收 14 名學生，穩定階段每年計劃招生 40 人（本地 10 人、非本地 30 人）（CUHK in Focus）※。由於志賢學院採跨學院招生與培養模式，不計入本篇「約 61 個學系」的統計口徑，但其運作已實質掛靠理學院數學系的師資與設施。
這四宗變動大致可分兩類：學系更名/整合（決策、營運與科技學系；治理與政策科學學院；統計與數據科學系）與新設跨學院建制（志賢跨學科數學科學學院）。前者多與學科命名跟進研究/招生方向調整有關，具體動因各系情況不一，本篇不作統一歸因，僅據官方口徑逐一記錄建制事實；治理與政策科學學院的重組背景，讀者可參見 HKFP 報道原文自行判斷。
